Grillplanet Field Kitchen and Stew Oven
These products aren’t just for making kettle goulash in the garden. Mulled wine, soups and other dishes can also be cooked easily using these field kitchens. They are ideal for parties.
Assembling the field kitchen
Grillplanet’s field kitchens are available in various sizes, but they are all similar in design. First, screw the legs onto the round cylinder (if not already attached) and place the unit on its legs.
Next, assemble the chimney – which consists of several individual parts – and attach it to the rear of the cylinder. This can be very difficult in some cases, as the conical attachment piece has very tight tolerances.
You can use a rubber mallet to slightly reduce the size of the cone on the ribbed end piece so that the chimney slides more easily into the cylinder’s socket.
Only a very small fire should be lit in a field kitchen. The heat generated is enormous and will quickly burn through any kettle if there is too much fuel in the combustion chamber.
Always light the fuel with small, dry twigs or paper; never use liquid barbecue lighter fluid. If the flame is too high, intense heat can build up and the field kitchen may warp.
Field Kitchen Safety Instructions
Never touch the field kitchen whilst it is in use. The outer casing can reach temperatures of 500 degrees or more.
Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the field kitchen area.
Most common causes of problems:
Excessive heat build-up causes the kettle and field kitchen to burn out.
The goulash kettle is left over the fire for too long without any liquid.
Food is left in the goulash pot for too long after cooking.
Campfires in the field kitchen.
Use of liquid barbecue lighter fluid in the field kitchen.

They are also popular at family gatherings or as mulled wine kettles. A major advantage is their compact design. You’re virtually not tied to any particular spot outdoors. Simply set it up and light it with wood or charcoal. You’ll be cooking up the finest dishes in no time.
